Between The Buns was started in 2008 by Melissa Olive and was originally called “Tri-City Desert Dogs”. Melissa started the business to work on Friday and Saturday Nights in downtown Kennewick, feeding the bar crowd until 2:30 a.m. Originally meant to be a fun second source of income it slowly grew. Starting with local events around the Tri-Cities. In June 2009 Melissa met her soon to be Husband Thomas Smith and they started working the hot dog stand together, shortly after they renamed the business with the help of its customers to Between The Buns.
From 2009 to 2011 the stand worked every weekend around the Tri-Cities. In February 2011 we signed a lease at our current restaurant location and decided to make a go at the restaurant business, but staying with our proven wiener focused menu. June 2011 we officially opened for business and like the original cart it was a slow start to business. But we slowly grew in popularity and we were even ranked as the 3rd best place to get a hotdog in the US, in Esquire magazine 2013! Since then we have added 2 more hot dog stands and can be found around the Tri-Cities all year round.
One size fits all with free refills. Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, Mellow Yellow, Brewed Un Sweetened Ice Tea, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade. Beer is also available.

Corn Dogs! Any type of dog or sausage on the menu hand dipped to order in our house made GLUTEN FREE corn dog batter fried to perfection.
Authentic Chicago Dog. 8 inch 1/4lb. All beef hotdog in a warm steamed poppy seed bun served with Mustard, Neon Relish, Pickle Spear, Tomatoes Wedges, Onions, Sport Peppers, and a dusting of Celery Salt.
Cheese-0-Holic. 8 inch 1/4lb. Classic Pork Frank in a warm steamed bun Smothered in Cream Cheese, Nacho Cheese, Shredded Cheese, and Crumbled Bacon.
VLT Dog. Our new veggie sausage, served with, Lettuce, and Tomato, plus a little Hidden Valley Ranch and some Shredded Cheese. I am not a vegetarian and I make this for my lunch.
Coney-Style. Our 8 inch 1/4lb. All-Beef Hot Dog smothered in Hot Dog Chili Sauce, Yellow Mustard, and Diced Onions
Downtown Dog. This is our original “give me one with everything” dog! It’s our 8 inch 1/4lb. Classic Pork Frank with, you guessed it, just about everything! Cream Cheese, Ketchup, Mustard, Sweet Relish, Onions, Tomatoes, Black Olives, Jalapeños, Shredded Cheese, and Sauerkraut. It’s a meal in itself!
Island Dog. Our 1/3lb. Smoked Polish Sausage topped with freshly crumbled Bacon, a sweet-&-tangy Jamaican Relish, Pineapple Tidbits, and a drizzle of Teriyaki Sauce
Italian Feast. 1/3lb. Spicy Italian Sausage, Cream Cheese, Grilled Onions and Grilled Green Bell Peppers, freshly crumbled Bacon, diced Tomatoes, Black Olives, and Shredded Cheese. Like it even spicier? Ask for Jalapeños or try it with our Spicy Brown Mustard

D’s Wicked Good Bratwurst.1/3 lb. Bratwurst Served classically on a toasted bun,with deli style mustard, grilled onions, and sauerkraut cooked in D’s Baked apple wicked cider.
Tri-City Special. If you want to know what our most popular dog on the menu is, this is it! Our 1/3lb. Rider’s Hot German Sausage served on a freshly steamed bun with cool Cream Cheese, caramelized-goodness Grilled Onions, freshly crumbled Bacon, and just the right amount of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce.
